As always back the so-called " Fratino Project ", aimed at the preservation of bird species Charadrius alexandrinus. Organized by the City of Medina, in collaboration with Ente Parco Regionale Migliarino-San Rossore Massaciuccoli, with the participation of LIPU, WWF, LEGAMBIENTE, EBN-Italy, EBN-Knot Toscano, bunting, The Dune Photography Club, Public Assistance Migliarino, Group Alpine Pisa.
All are invited to attend.
The intervention will consist of
manual collection of waste located on the beach near the mouth of the river Serchio. In particular, it will collect plastic, metal and bulky materials of various kinds, while the wood material will be left in place in order to facilitate the formation of sand dunes .
This intervention will provide the necessary cleaning without having to resort to mechanical means within the dune system . The cleaning process will be assisted by Geofor SpA The area will then be bounded by poles equipped with tables, on which the image of the post fratino , bird nesting now rare, with the relative order of union.
The days of cleaning in previous years have seen today the participation of about 800 people. The results achieved in previous years were as follows:
- collection of 500 tons of various types of waste;
- thus improving the appearance of the area;
- discovery, during the breeding season, first of nests with eggs and later by the small refectory of ornithological experts. A late morning
Vecchiano City will offer a buffet for all participants, in collaboration with the circle of ARCI Nodica.
